Police apologise over ‘offensive’ puppy ad

A police force has apologised to the Muslim community after its ad campaign featuring a puppy sparked an outcry. A picture of Rebel, a 29-week-old black alsation, featured on postcards promoting a new non-emergency telephone number. But the choice of the image, which shows Rebel sitting in a police officer's hat, was questioned as Islamic tradition warns Muslims against contact with dogs because they are seen as impure.

Muslims may keep the animals as guard dogs but not usually as pets.

Some Dundee shopkeepers have refused to put the postcards up in their windows Councillor Mohammed Asif told a meeting of Tayside Joint Police Board. 'My concern was that it's not welcomed by all communities, with the dog on the cards. It was probably a waste of resources going to these communities. People who have shops just won't put the postcard up.'

Tayside Police said they chose the image of Rebel in light of the puppy's popularity with the online community, where his blog has attracted thousands of visitors.

'Trainee police dog Rebel has proved extremely popular with children and adults since being introduced to the public, aged six weeks old, as Tayside Police's newest canine recruit, a force spokesman said: 'We did not seek advice from the force's diversity adviser prior to publishing and distributing the postcards. That was an oversight and we apologise for any offence caused.'

The dog, Rebel, is a sniffer dog. It is 'employed' by the police. If Muslims don't like dogs, I don't really give a shit, and neither should our police forces.

For f**k's sake, do you see vegetarians complaining that pictures of meat are offensive? The postcard in question had a picture of a cream- or yellow-coloured retro telephone - what about those people who don't like those old style phones? Any complaints from them? No... this is all because Muhammad - the despotic, idiotic, illiterate fool from the 7th century - didn't like dogs. I believe he also had all the dogs in one city either expelled or killed. You know, Kim il Sung demanded that his beds were exactly 500 metres above sea level, and that his pillows were filled with the feathers from the chins of sparrows. There are some demands that are just blatantly idiotic. It is a sad indictment of society that we allow nonsense like this to continue. What's even worse is that the police APOLOGISED for the advert! Are all pictures of dogs within Tayside now banned? Are the Muslims taking over?

Someone once said that Europe will be taken over by Muslims without a single shot being fired. We are losing the war against irrationality with every instance of bowing down to the nonsense religious beliefs of a minority.

Multiculturalism is a lie. It is a pernicious evil pervading every part of our society, and I, for one, am fed up of giving special treatment to Muslims. Muslims must adapt to Europe, not the other way round. Don't like it here, then don't come here. Don't come here for our benefits and freedoms; stay in your backwards, barbaric countries.

I see nothing in Islam that makes me want to embrace it as part of this country. I see only evil.
